JOIN ST LUKE'S MUSIC SOCIETY
St Luke's Music Society organises and promotes the St Luke's concert
series. Friends of the Society, in addition to supporting this important
contribution to the cultural life of Battersea and South West London,
also enjoy the following benefits:
- Advance notice of all programmes and events, and priority booking
for all concerts.
- From time to time exclusive Friends-only events.
Recent examples have included a private concert by the Russian
viola player Ilya Hoffman in what was one of his first appearances
in the UK, and a performance by Julian Curry in his wonderful
one man show HIC!
or the Entire History of Wine (abridged), which through
the generosity of Broomwood Hall was held in the Broomwood
Hall's wonderful open air amphitheatre.
In the spring of 2007 the Society presented a private concert
by Samuel Staples, a pupil at the Yehudi Menuhin School and
one of the most promising your violinists in the country.
- Friends-only receptions after some concerts, with the opportunity
to meet the performers.
- Opportunities to join other Friends at events around London
and enjoy discounted ticket prices.
For example, Friends have recently been to the Queen Elizabeth
Hall to hear Howard Shelley perform Shostakovich : Piano Concerto
no 2 with the London
Mozart Players and to St James's Piccadilly for a performance
by Florilegium
of South American baroque music from the missions of Bolivia,
featuring Bolivian soloists.
