About Us

St Luke's Music Society

Founded in 2003, St Luke's Music Society promotes an annual concert series in St Luke's Church, South Battersea between October and May each year. The Society's reputation is based on attracting an array of international artists and on the church's superb acoustics.  Performers in recent series have included Mitsuko Uchida, Mark Padmore, The Sixteen, Emma Johnson, Nicola Benedetti, the Doric String Quartet, Jess Gillam, Anna Lapwood, Peter Donohoe and Carolyn Sampson.  The Society is known especially well for its outstanding series of annual piano recitals, which make full use for St Luke's astonishing acoustic.

The Society depends entirely on volunteers, and is always grateful to hear from anyone who might be able to help, both on concert days and with administration behind the scenes between concerts.

St Luke’s Music Society is very grateful to the vicar, the Reverend Lorenzo Fernandez-Vicente, to St Luke’s Parochial Church Council, to the local business community, which supports us through sponsorship and programme advertising, and of course to all the Society's members and volunteers for their support.
The Society is managed by:
Derek Carden - Artistic Director
Antony Lewis-Crosby - General Manager
Pippa MacDonald - Secretary
Liz Bracken - Friends Secretary
Liz Butler - Box Office Manager
Jem Stagg - Stage Manager
Timothy Walker - Treasurer
Matthew Silverman

St Luke's Church serves the Anglican Diocese of Southwark between Wandsworth and Clapham Commons. For more information, please visit the St Luke's Website.

Modelled on an Italian basilica and built in the 1880s, the church has superb acoustics and provides a very beautiful venue for any kind of music, with an audience capacity of about 450. The facilities of the new Community Hall, adjacent to the church, are available to members of the audience and there is an excellent sound system and loop system.

Concert tickets are unreserved, but with prior notice we are delighted to make arrangements for wheelchairs or people with disabilities.
